In a reshuffle of the top management at Bombay Dyeing & Manufacturing Co, the textile and real estate company has appointed Jehangir N (Jeh) Wadia, younger son of promoter Nusli Wadia, as managing director with effect from 1 April.

In a related development, Ness N Wadia, elder son of Nusli Wadia, widely expected to inheritthe mantle from Nusli Wadia, will step down as the joint managing director of Bombay Dyeing with effect from the closing of business hours on 31 March. Ness Wadia was appointed to this position in August 2001.

Reliance Industries Ltd on Sunday announced an equal financial services joint venture with global private equity and hedge fund company DE Shaw.

The joint venture will offer services like energy and carbon trading and derivatives linked to these, areas in which DE Shaw has expertise.  It will also enter more conventional sectors such as private equity, mutual funds, and other security-linked offerings, according to reports.

But with new banking norms coming in place in India in the near future, there is a very good chance that this NBFC might file for a license for a bank.

Online auction and shopping website eBay Inc today said it has agreed to acquire e-commerce company GSI Commerce Inc in a cash-and-debt deal worth about 1.9 billion.

The acquisition will involve cash payment of $1.9 billion and a loan of $467 million to GSI founder Rubin’s new company. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2011.

The deal will strengthen eBay’s Marketplace business.

The Tata Crucible 2011 Campus Cochin Edition was a great quiz with a nail biting finish.

CUSAT was leading the quiz towards the end of the quiz but a last question answer from College of Engineering, Trivandrum took the duo of Sudarshan and Unnikrishnan to the National Final. Should note this is the same team that gave the Corporates a run for their money at RCBS’ Inflore 2010 finally coming second.

Nikon is set to re-launch their brand in Australia, with a major multimillion dollar marketing campaign, featuring Robbie Williams. The Japanese Company is also introducing several new digital cameras’ ranging in price from $99 to $2,000.
