Ditching a tech quiz in Bangalore, I headed to Chennai- anticipating a fantastic business quiz by Dr Sumanth C Raman. An unknown name (for me), I googled to find this result and the excitement to participate ended up increasing exponentially.
But alas, the quiz was a comedy of terrors (yes, inspired by Harri Puttar). Firstly, we walk in to find a registration fee of Rs 1000/- (let me guarantee you that after a number of mails with the co-ordinators regarding particiaption eligibility and rules, this fee thing never came up). We had travelled all the way from Bangalore and we couldn’t help but register.
Anyway, the quiz content was relatively bad (although the prelims had some googlies). Cut off was 13.
The final’s content was abysmal.. The Quizmaster just elucidated why one needs to have a fair share of experience to conduct a good quiz. The QM was bloody lost in the buzzer rounds and an answer to one of his questions befit the situation- FIASCO!!
Anyway, I can’t talk more.. Here’s Patrick’s post giving you all the questions, enjoy !!!

Hey Rohit
I wanted to be diplomatic but you have given the Blatant Truth. A complete waste of time and money too…
Dear Sylvian,
Most organizers are ignorant about quizzing and although I do not expect them to read our posts and comments, I think it is our moral obligation to let people know how pathetic or wonderful the experience was.
Forget bad content but down right wrong content is unacceptable.
Most quizzers know that BSA SLR – stands for Self Loading Rifle and not the Sleek Light roadster answer the Quizmaster wondered was right!
Its important that organizers across the country recognize that being a TV quiz presenter every weekday cannot be a qualification criteria to conduct a live quiz with/for experienced serious quizzers.

Hi Rohit,
I totally agree with you when you say organizers are ignorant about quizzing. This is the 2nd Chennai B-School quiz I have been to that has had very bad content. They should try to emulate CEG-Anna Univ, which, despite being an engg institute (no offence meant here at all, but i assume since MBA students are studying business, this should be what they are good at) have managed to organise a great quiz with a good, solid QM. (from what i hv seen over the last 2 years)
COming back to this quiz, apart from SLR, questions on the 4 Ps and the expansion of SWOT are ridiculous.
I think I would have enjoyed the quiz more had they conducted the quiz in some classroom of theirs, and got a good QM instead.
Who won the quiz ? And did you make the finals ?
@ Rohit
That’s true and they don’t take the suggestions of quizzers at any point of time. ( The feed back forms are just formality in these cases.)
Yogekshema Bahamiyam and Mark Zuckerberg would be a stupid questions for school students these days. I have tried forwarding the reviews to the student co-ordinators and i think their VP is part of QFI Yahoo Group..If at all she reads the reviews, she will have a taste of what the quizzers think of the QM.
Really sad to see that the organizers of quizzes are blatantly ignorant. Really disappointed with the questions, especially from this guy, coz i normally find his sports quizzes pretty decent!
There was an extremely bad episode in Jyoti Nivas College as well.. Poorly organized quiz, utter commotion, will give you details later this week..
Just hope our voices are heard…..
haha..Jyoti Niwas College..reached a level unattained by any other quiz..It was rigged when you thought a quiz could never be rigged..
Nonetheless..Abhinav will sure give you details..
This is the forum to let the quizzers across the nation know bout these ‘practices’..
Feel free to post or mail. I guarantee you that accurate info will be whole heartedly published on Quintessential Theory and Quizkrieg
