What is Dutch Boy: The Dutch Boy Group is a world renowned paint manufacturing company.

History: The company was founded in 1907 as the National Lead Company, Dutch Boy is currently a subsidiary of, and is owned and operated by, the Diversified Brands Division of the Sherwin-Williams Company.

Trivia:

  1. The company was named after “The Dutch Process” which helped perfect paint quality in 16th century Holland.
  2. The boy in the Dutch Boy logo was painted by artist Lawrence Carmichael Earle.
  3. Ironically, Michael E. Brady, the nine-year-old boy who became the inspiration for the famous Dutch Boy® trademark, was not Dutch at all, but an Irish-American who lived near the artist commissioned to create the logo.
  4. Dutch Boy paint has been used for some very prestigious jobs including: The Hollywood Sign, The White House, The Golden Gate Bridge, Disney World, US Naval Battleships and aircraft carriers.
  5. Since 1907, the Dutch Boy logo has changed seven different times: 1917 1947 1957 1967 1977 2000.
