What is Dutch Boy: The Dutch Boy Group is a world renowned paint manufacturing company.
History: The company was founded in 1907 as the National Lead Company, Dutch Boy is currently a subsidiary of, and is owned and operated by, the Diversified Brands Division of the Sherwin-Williams Company.
Trivia:
- The company was named after “The Dutch Process” which helped perfect paint quality in 16th century Holland.
- The boy in the Dutch Boy logo was painted by artist Lawrence Carmichael Earle.
- Ironically, Michael E. Brady, the nine-year-old boy who became the inspiration for the famous Dutch Boy® trademark, was not Dutch at all, but an Irish-American who lived near the artist commissioned to create the logo.
- Dutch Boy paint has been used for some very prestigious jobs including: The Hollywood Sign, The White House, The Golden Gate Bridge, Disney World, US Naval Battleships and aircraft carriers.
- Since 1907, the Dutch Boy logo has changed seven different times: 1917 1947 1957 1967 1977 2000.
