Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has topped Forbes’ India Rich List for third consecutive year with net worth of $27 billion, Forbes Magazine has reported.
Ambani is followed by Arcelor Mittal Chairman Lakshmi Mittal with wealth totaling $26.1 billion. Third in the list in Wipro Chairman Azim Premji, whose net worth is pegged at $17.6 billion.
The combined fortune of India’s 100 richest people rises to $300 billion from $276 billion last year, says Forbes India.
India’s booming stock market and a rapidly expanding economy (growing by 8.5 per cent) are primary reasons that have boosted the net worth of the rich.
